Vybe stores almost nothing. This page says what it works with while it is playing, the one setting it writes down, what the web panel keeps, and what it never touches.

Who we are

Vybe is a music bot for Discord, built and run by Phase & Cipher, a small development team. We operate the bot and the web panel at vybe.pcdev.dev.

What Vybe stores

Close to nothing, and that is not marketing copy. The queue, the volume, whether loop or autoplay is on, and which channel it is sitting in all live in memory on the machine running the bot. When the bot restarts or leaves a voice channel, that is gone.

There is one exception, and it is the only thing Vybe writes to disk. If a server turns on 24/7 mode, we save that server's ID and the voice and text channel IDs so the bot can walk back into the channel after a restart. That is the entire record: three IDs, with no user in it. Turning 24/7 off, or using /stop, deletes it immediately.

While it is playing, it works with the following, none of which is written to disk:

DataWhy
Your Discord user IDTo check whether you are allowed to press a control, and to count vote skips
The server and voice channel IDTo know where it is playing and who is listening
Your roles and voice stateRead live from Discord to work out your permissions. Not copied or kept
The search text you typeTo find the track you asked for
The current queueSo it knows what to play next

The web panel

Signing in to the panel uses Discord's own login. We ask for two permissions, identify and guilds, which tell us who you are and which servers you are in. We do not ask for your email, your messages or anything else.

We do not keep a session database. Your login is a cookie holding your Discord user ID and an expiry time, signed so it cannot be edited. That is the whole session. Logging out clears it, and it expires on its own.

Every control on the panel re-checks your permissions on our side when you press it. The buttons the page shows you are a convenience, not the security.

Voice and audio

Vybe does not record, store, transcribe or forward voice. It joins a channel to send audio out. It does not listen to what anyone in the channel is saying, and it has no ability to save it.

Third parties

Audio is fetched and streamed by audio server software, one instance running on our own hardware and a public community instance used as a fallback. To find and play a track, the search text and the track address are passed to whichever of those is handling the request, and on to the site the track is hosted on. Those parties see the search text. They do not receive your Discord user ID, your username or your server.

Discord itself, obviously, sees everything you do on Discord. Their privacy policy covers that part and not us.

What we never do

  • We do not read, log or store message content.
  • We do not record voice.
  • We do not keep a history of what you searched for or played.
  • We do not store your email, your IP address, your avatar or your payment details, because we never receive them.
  • We do not sell, rent or share anything with advertisers. There are no ads and no trackers on the panel.

How long anything is kept

Playback state lasts until the bot leaves the channel or restarts, whichever comes first. Your panel session cookie lasts until it expires or you log out. A 24/7 entry lasts until 24/7 is turned off or the bot is stopped, and is deleted the moment either happens.

Getting data removed

There is no record about you to delete, because nothing Vybe writes down identifies a person. To clear the one thing it does store, turn 24/7 off or run /stop, which removes your server's entry straight away. Log out of the panel to clear your session. If you would like that confirmed in writing, ask us and we will give it to you.

Changes to this policy

If we start storing something we do not store today, this page changes before the feature ships, not after. The date at the top is the honest one.
